THE GREEN SIDE OF BAXTER CINEMA

YEAR: 2017

When green meets design: on the occasion of the 2017 International Furniture Fair, Baxter stages a new and surprising installation. Baxter Cinema changes and becomes a magic place where nature, through patience and perseverance, takes back the places that once were hers. The green path begins once the stairs are climbed down: we are lead into the underground heart of the building, where we get the feeling of entering a big garden where greenness finds its way among the domestic spaces.
Several materials have been used. The new colored leathers, whose nuances are soft and warm but with a strong personality, are matched with materials like copper, iron and rattan. The most important news has undoubtedly sprung from the constant experimentation that Baxter dedicates to the field of leather. As a matter of fact, Baxter has dedicated its research to the carrying out of ancient leathers, tanned to become completely water-repellent and, therefore, studied to be kept outside. Next to these harder leathers, there are also items made with soft ones, meant for a washing machine and able not to lose their softness and lightness, both fundamental for Baxter philosophy. It deals with completely natural leathers, that get old and change over time, conveying the idea of something that has lived a full life. Something that only noble materials can convey.
Every detail reminds us of a wood: it is therefore possible to live a thorough sensory experience, made authentic also thanks to the multimedia installation realized by the video maker Davide Rapp. In order to widen this unusual and engaging experience, the ground floor’s window will hold a real flower shop, managed by the green-artists Figli dei Fiori.
